Kevin Miller presented on the topic "Liability for Pharmacy Events and the Learned Intermediary Doctrine" to the Illinois Society of Healthcare Risk Management at its audio conference held on April 29, 2010.
Dave Collins recently obtained summary judgment on behalf of a School District and its teacher. The case initially included several negligence counts, which Dave was able to get dismissed with prejudice, based upon the Tort Immunity Act. After discovery was concluded, Dave moved for, and was granted, summary judgment on the remaining counts that alleged wilful and wanton conduct.
Brenda Smith, a legal assistant located in the Peoria office, celebrated her 10th year of employment with Quinn, Johnston, Henderson, Pretorius & Cerulo on June 1, 2010.
Murv Pretorius recently received "not guilty" verdicts in two medical malpractice cases. In the first case, Murv defended an obstetrician that had been sued. After a week and a half of trial, the jury returned a "not guilty." In the second case, Murv defended a general surgeon that had been sued by the estate of one of his former patients. After three weeks of trial, the jury returned a "not guilty" verdict as to all Defendants.
Dennis Merkley was recently appointed to serve on the Illinois State Bar Association Health Care Section Council.
